Security & Trust
Your club's accounts and your members' details are exactly the kind of records that need looking after properly. This page explains, in plain terms, how Tiny Treasurer protects them. The short version: your data stays on your own computer, and never goes to the cloud.
Your records never leave your PC. Tiny Treasurer is offline Windows software. The accounts, members, income and expenses you record are stored only on your own computer. There is no cloud copy of your club's data — we don't hold it, back it up, or ever see it. That means the safest place for your records is exactly where you'd want it: with you.
Everything you enter into Tiny Treasurer — members, subscriptions, income, expenses, Gift Aid figures and statements — is saved as a file on your own Windows PC. It is not sent to us and it is not synced to any cloud service. This is a deliberate design choice: your books belong to you, and keeping them on your own machine means there is no online store of your club's records to be breached, sold or lost by someone else.
Many apps put your data on a server somewhere and ask you to trust their security. Tiny Treasurer takes the opposite approach: with no cloud copy of your accounts, your club's records are simply not held online at all. Protecting the file on your PC is then down to the everyday good practice you'd use for any important document — keep your computer up to date, use a login password, and take your own backups.
The only information we hold is what's needed to sell you a licence and keep it working: your name and email, your licence key and device identifiers, and your purchase records. We protect it with sensible, layered measures:
When Tiny Treasurer activates or periodically re-checks your licence, the only things sent to our licensing server are your licence key and a device identifier. Your accounts, members and financial records are never part of that exchange — they stay on your PC. Between these lightweight checks, the app works completely offline.
Card payments are handled by Stripe, a global PCI-DSS-certified payment provider. We never see or store your full card details, and no payment card data touches our own systems.
Because your records are yours and held on your device, you keep access to them even if your licence lapses. In that case Tiny Treasurer becomes read-only — you can still open, view, print and export everything. Renew whenever you like to start adding entries again.
We handle the personal data we do hold in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC188926. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Security isn't a one-off task — it's something we maintain. We review our protections regularly and strengthen them as best practice moves on. Keeping your club's data on your own computer, with only the minimum licence information held by us, is the foundation of that approach.
